1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Expense Monitor application ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Expense Monitor is a shared expense tracking and ledger platform that allows groups of people to log, split, and monitor shared costs in a web browser.

3. User Accounts

Registration

You must create an account to use Expense Monitor. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information and to update it as necessary.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Expense Monitor. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or spaces
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or other harmful content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated tools or bots to access the Service without permission
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users

5. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you submit to Expense Monitor (expense records, notes, etc.). By submitting content, you grant Expense Monitor a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your space members.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of financial data you enter and any agreements made with other members of your space.

6. Shared Spaces & Invitations

When you create a shared space, you become responsible for managing membership, including who you invite. Expense Monitor is not responsible for disputes between users arising from shared expense data or balances.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Expense Monitor does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Expense Monitor is a personal finance tracking tool and does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice. Always consult a qualified professional for such matters.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Expense Monitor and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

9. Termination

You can close your account from Account & security. Closure removes login access and anonymizes your profile. Shared financial records and historical memberships remain so that other members retain accurate ledgers. A sole administrator must appoint another administrator before closing an account that manages a shared space.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
